Brazil's Tax Reform and GRC Inbound: What SAP Will and Won't Deliver

Get the latest on SAP's plans for GRC Inbound under Brazil's tax reform. What will be delivered? What will be left out?

By Intellevo

SAP and Brazil's tax reform

In an SAP Note, SAP clarified what it will do in GRC NFE (SAP Electronic Invoicing for Brazil 10.0) to address the changes brought by Brazil's 2026 tax reform.

The message is clear: SAP will not fully support the reform in GRC, but it will release a targeted, emergency update to prevent critical failures when receiving NF-es (Brazilian electronic invoices) starting in October 2025. So what does this mean in practice?

✅ What will SAP deliver?

SAP will deliver only the regeneration of the XML proxies for NF-e and CT-e (electronic transportation bill) so the system can keep accepting files issued by suppliers that have already adopted the new tax reform fields as of October 6, 2025 (according to Technical Note (NT) 2025.002 v1.10).

This proxy regeneration will include:

  • XML update with the new fields from NT 2024.003 (Agriculture) and NT 2025.002 (Tax Reform)
  • Minimum compatibility to avoid blocking the intake of incoming XML files

📌 Goal: keep the system running without technical XML parsing errors, even without any internal processing of the new taxes.

❌ What will not be delivered in GRC?

SAP confirms that there will be no full support for Brazil's tax reform in GRC. The items explicitly not supported include:

  • No mapping of new fields in inbound and outbound processes
  • No ABAP mapping for the new fields
  • No changes to the invoice Status field
  • No support for tax simulation for the new taxes
  • No changes to invoice receipt (MIRO), postings, or screens
  • No adaptations beyond the proxy regeneration

Conclusion and next steps

The proxy regeneration is an emergency, limited, and temporary fix. GRC NFE will still have no real tax handling for IBS (Tax on Goods and Services), CBS (Contribution on Goods and Services), and IS (Selective Tax).

If your company processes supplier NF-es through GRC, make sure this update is applied by October — but also start considering alternatives to handle Brazil's tax reform in full with a different messaging solution, whether SAP DRC or other parallel solutions.
